Hot Stone Therapy

Our hand selected massage stones are of the highest quality, iron-rich therapeutic basalt. These volcanic rocks hold heat better than other stones, as well as being naturally smooth, which makes them ideal for a hot stone massage. Hot stone massage is a specialty massage were the massage therapist uses the heat and pressure of the stones to both relax the client as well as to work the muscles more deeply and more efficiently. As the heat soaks into the lower layers of the muscle tissues, the muscle relaxes and becomes more receptive to the manipulations of the massage therapist, as well as having an increase in circulation to deliver fresh oxygen to the muscles and carry away the toxic waste products of cellular respiration.

Use the elements of Mother Nature to warm your heart – and your muscles!

Reflexology

Every year, more and more people are embracing reflexology as a valuable method for maintaining good health, stress relief, and relaxation. Reflexology involves applying certain pressure techniques to specific regions of the feet, hands, and ears in order to effect a physical change in a related area of the body. As clinical studies have resulted in mixed results concerning the efficacy of reflexology, our massage therapist do not use reflexology to diagnose any potential medical concerns. Our massage therapist do promote reflexology as a way to reach a deeper state of relaxation as well as to maintain good health. Reflexology is a good method to boost circulation in the extremities of the body where poor circulation and a build up of toxins are known to occur.

Moist Heat Therapy

Why is Moist Heat Therapy a superior form of pain management? Your body is approximately 60% water, found in the soft tissues, muscle, fat, skin and interstitial fluid.   Moist heat is more effective than dry heat because it penetrates deeper and last longer. Body tissues are able to tolerate moist heat at a higher temperature than dry heat. As this heat penetrates painful body tissues, blood vessels dilate (vasodilation), increasing the circulation in the area. The increased blood flow to the affected area provides proteins, nutrients, and oxygen for better healing, as well as removing the toxic build up of the waste products of cellular respiration. Heat therapy is most commonly used for rehabilitation purposes. The therapeutic effects of heat include increasing the extensibility of collagen tissues, increasing blood flow, decreasing joint stiffness, reducing pain, relieving muscle spasms, reducing inflammation, edema, and aids in the post acute phase of healing.  Moist Heat Therapy is useful for muscle spasms, myalgia, fibromyalgia, headaches, and some forms of arthritis. Because heat is a vasodilator, you should not use heat in tissues with inadequate blood supply, scars, lack of sensitivity, acute injury, or bleeding disorders.

Moist Heat Therapy is for the serious massage connoisseur only.

Hot Towel Foot Treatment

Ahhhh, the feet! The most often over used and under cared for part of the body. Aching feet are the result of overstressed muscles and connective tissue due to the excess activities or weight-bearing burdens of daily life. Let’s face it, unless you are a couch potato, you’ve experienced the aching of tired, sore, overworked feet. Because your feet are the farthest point from the heart, they are the most common place for poor circulation. Good circulation is essential to the overall health and wellness of your body. Good circulation not only delivers fresh oxygen and carries away toxins, but it also aids the movement of lymph through the immune system. With poor blood circulation you will have poor lymph circulation, which means a poor immune system. So what is the best way that you can show some tender loving care to your tender footsies? A hot water foot soak every night will not only boost your circulation and immune system, but it will also help you to sleep deeper and feel more rested. Our massage therapist will treat your feet to a moist heat foot massage in order to achieve this same benefit during your massage.

For most clients, this is the absolute best part of the massage!
